Cancun with TRS & Grand Palladium
Riviera Maya & playa Mujeres
Cancun is a great year-round destination for warm weather, sandy beaches, delicious food & lots of resorts to choose from to please every type of holidaymaker. Whilst the entire region is often referred to as ‘Cancun’ – as is the international airport you’ll fly into – the main strip is known as the ‘Hotel Zone’. If you’re looking for somewhere central with lots of extra shopping malls & restaurants in the region, staying here is a definite option for you, but we prefer the more exclusive coastal regions of Riviera Maya & Playa Mujeres. A little more secluded, often within gated communities, a bounty of luxury resorts with private beaches and endless all-inclusive options await. From the quaint town of Puerto Morelos to the popular (yet still refined – not tacky) touristic regions of Puerto Aventuras & Playa del Carmen, to the historical Tulum, famous for its Mayan Ruins, this stretch of coast has so much to offer. To the north, Playa Mujeres – consisting of Costa Mujeres & the neighbouring island, Isla Mujeres – is the newest development of the area.
What does all this mean? Whether you’re in search of a family-friendly holiday or an adult-only escape, ‘Cancun’ has it all. We’ve teamed up with Palladium Hotel Group to showcase their range of 5-star resorts offering something for everyone.
Grand Palladium Riviera Maya Resorts
60-90 minutes south of Cancun International Airport, you’ll find the group of Grand Palladium Riviera Maya resorts, which is actually 4 properties on one site;
- Grand Palladium Kantenah
- Grand Palladium Colonial
- Grand Palladium White Sands
- TRS Yucatan (adults-only)
This sprawling resort has an abundance of restaurants, bars, pools, entertainment venues, kids clubs, etc. There’s a simple rule to follow when it comes to the facilities;
- If you’re staying at one of the Grand Palladium resorts (generally aimed at families), you can use all of the Kantenah, Colonial & White Sands facilities, but not TRS
- If you’re staying at TRS Yucatan, you can use the entire resort’s facilities
Grand Palladium costa mujeres Resorts
45-60 minutes north of Cancun International Airport, you’ll find the group of Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres resorts, which houses 3 properties on one site;
- Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres
- Family Selection
- TRS Coral (adults-only)
Similar rules apply to this group of resorts in terms of ‘who can use which facilities’, with a slight difference for Family Selection by Grand Palladium – a fairly new brand which basically, puts the kids in charge! From Family Butlers to a range of amenities, exclusive pools & dining venues, this luxury resort is fantastic for a family holiday.
Adults staying at Family Selection also have the advantage of using the TRS facilities!
why choose a grand palladium resort?
Grand Palladium Resorts are family-focussed, 5-star, all-inclusive and always impressive. A range of dining experiences – from show cooking to à la carte restaurants and beyond – more bars than you know which to choose (so you’ll just have to try them all), a huge selection of pools – from party to peace & quiet – live music & entertainment available throughout the day, kids clubs for all ages (0 to 17 to be exact), a large stretch of beach and much more. Don’t worry parents, there’s still some secluded adult-only spaces for you to enjoy across the Grand Palladium Resorts too (even if you’re not staying at TRS) – a few pools nestled amongst gardens down hidden paths – as well as Hemingway & Churchills – 2 refined bars for evening entertainment, delicious cocktails and the occasional themed event, including a chocolate buffet… sign us up!
With a range of suites to choose from – Junior Suites, Suites and some featuring private pools – there’s the perfect accommodation for every type & size of family, and of course all of the suites are perfectly suitable for a couple, too. Travelling with older children and need a little extra space? Interconnecting rooms are available.
When it comes to food, the world is your oyster… and just about every other type of food, too. With dedicated ‘show cooking’ venues for each of the Grand Palladium Resorts, there’s also specialty à la carte restaurants including Italian, Japanese, steakhouses, seafood as well as a 24hr sports bar for those late-night snacks.
Whether your child is 17 months or 17 years old, there’s a fantastic programme for children, including dedicated kids clubs for their age group, parties, events & more for them to enjoy, all of which is included in your stay and managed by the ‘PoP Team’ in safe, supervised environments, so you can relax with a cocktail from time to time.
The advantage of these large resorts is that everything is easily accessible; whether you choose to meander through the paths or along the beach, but in 30º heat, you may prefer to catch one of the buggies/tuk tuks that can take you from place to place – from the spa, to the sports field, to the lobby, to your villa or building.
why choose a TRS resort?
TRS – originally branded as ‘The Royal Suites’ – is an adults-only haven boasting 5-star, luxury, all-inclusive throughout your stay. From a personalised checkin experience to your very own Butler, exclusive pools, bars & restaurants serving gourmet cuisine, premium drinks and an attentive service. At TRS, nothing is too much trouble – after all, your Butler is there to assist with whatever requests you may have – making reservations for the restaurants, organising excursions if you so wish or even simple tasks, such as specifying your Nespresso preference in your suite and if you’d like to make any alterations to what beverages are stocked in your mini-bar.
TRS boasts exclusivity for adults, in every aspect. From dedicated restaurants, bars, pools, beach area and more, guests here can enjoy a child-free environment, with the added benefit of being able to use the other restaurants & bars across the wider resort as and when they wish – that’s 20+ restaurants to choose from.
All of the suites at TRS come with Butler service, which our travel experts believe are ideally suited towards the UK market – their service is available as & when you need it, without being intrusive. Also included is a selection of bottled spirits & wine in your suite, which can be selected in advance through your ‘eButler Wishlist’.
But that's not all...
There’s so much more to explore & enjoy at these resorts. The brand’s Zentropia Spa is a peaceful haven to pamper yourself with treatments or a relaxing afternoon using the Hydrotherapy Circuit – a day pass can be purchased. Looking for a romantic evening? Add a special candlelit dinner on the beach with your loved one. CHIC is a night to remember; the resort’s evening dinner cabaret with over 3 hours of spectacular entertainment along with a 5-course dinner & specialty cocktails. Our travel experts recommend guests make a reservation for this once during their stay. There’s a $45 cover charge for TRS guests and a $145 cover charge for Grand Palladium guests.
your next holiday is here
Hopefully you can see why Grand Palladium & TRS Resorts are a fantastic choice for your next holiday. Fun for the whole family or an adult-only escape, there really is something for everyone and much more. Whilst 7 night durations are common here, many guests opt for 10 night or even 14 night stays; the resorts are certainly large enough to make the most of the facilities and dine somewhere different most days – beachside breakfast, a light seafood lunch, followed by a hearty Italian feast for dinner – you really never will go hungry here.
With direct flights from London Gatwick year-round along with alternate options from regional airports, you can expect warm weather throughout. The heavier season for seaweed is June-through-September commonly, so if you’re staying in the ‘Hotel Zone’ or parts of Riviera Maya that aren’t sheltered by the neighbouring island of Cozumel, then you should expect more seaweed wash-up. However, each resort works diligently to maintain this and run a ‘clean-up’ operation daily. Looking for white sandy beaches? Then Costa Mujeres is our recommendation as Isla Mujeres acts as a ‘seaweed barrier’ – also a snorkelling haven and paradise island itself.
So, if you haven’t already, add Riviera Maya & Playa Mujeres to your bucket-list for a tropical escape to the sun in 2023 & beyond.
recommended day trips & excursions
Every now & again, you may decide to venture out from the comforts of your all-inclusive resort for a day of adventure. Well, Cancun has plenty to offer;
- Isla Mujeres Catamaran – set sail from the marina of Playa Mujeres for a day onboard a luxury catamaran as you head across to the gorgeous island of Isla Mujeres. A great trip for the snorkelling enthusiasts & sunbathers alike
- Chichén Itzá – one of the New 7 Wonders of The World according to UNESCO. The most famous & visited archeological site in Mexico, containing 26 Mayan ruins
- Xcaret & Xel-Ha – these fun-filled waterparks & marine reserves are fantastic day-trips. With lazy rivers, animal encounters, jungle activities, slides & more to enjoy
- Xoximilco – an evening of entertainment onboard a boat floating around the mangroves, complete with dinner and (lots of) drinking along the way
